What I love about children is their unbridled capacity to be silly and laugh at the absurdity of life. It takes me back to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s quote in The Little Prince, “All grown-ups were once children…but only few of them remember it.” The world chips away at us as we grow, leaving fragments of our curiosity and playfulness behind. I have learned throughout my life that those pieces can be reattached in the form of a rhinestone or a feather. The art of drag is a reflection of the diversity of gender expression, body positivity, and passion that the world has sought to dilute within me. Through drag, I have been picking up the costume pieces of my life.
